Roman Forum, Thessaloniki, Greece.
Near the Basilica of St. Demetrius (5 minutes walk) there is the Greek agora and the Roman forum. They were discovered during construction work in 1960. The market area – Agora – dates back to 3. BC. This area was a place of public meetings, it was surrounded by craft shops, government buildings and temples. In the Roman period it was expanded and became the center of urban life. Then it became a two-level forum and the Odeon theater that is well preserved to this day.
